Smile

I smiled.
Nothing even remotely close to funny had happened that day.
For a change, it was not even one of those quotations from Groucho Marx or Oscar Wilde or Woody Allen that made me smile.
No, it was not even the cool evening breeze.
I wondered if it was that cynical smile I wear quite often. No, it was not - there was something so pure about this smile.

The sheer meaninglessness of everything seemed so trivial. And nothing mattered.
There was no joy, no pain, no sarcasm, no irony. I felt nothing. It was just pure bliss. I realized what Nirvana really means.
I wished somebody took my snap at that moment. [I feel so very uncomfortable smiling for the camera, that I appear awful in all those smiling pics of mine. This could have been my ideal profile pic. Well, anyways!]
Could anybody be in that state for eternity? I wish I could, I would have given anything in the world then, to be in that state forever. But, I knew it would fade away soon and I had to relish it as long as it lasts.

I look a long look at the mad world around me and smiled for the last time!

one does not need a reason to smile, it is something that comes very naturally to us. as u say, that point of time appears pure and magical. how we wish that it would last for a long time. everything appears trivial then, yes.

hope u can experience the joy of such moments. simple ecstasy, that's what they are. i so, totally agree with u :)

Assuming you can read and write kannada quite well (ok, reading is good enough as far as this comment goes). As DVG says:

"I feel so very uncomfortable smiling for the camera, that I appear awful in all those smiling pics of mine"
Currently I am reading Dr.V.S.Ramachandran's book, 'Phantoms in the Brain'. There he gives the reason why we find it so uncomfortable smiling for the camera, while we smile easily when we see a friend. To put it briefly, different regions of the brain handle those two actions, therefore, the results are also different.

Sorry for going off-topic, but I couldn't resist...

@sunil
No "grass", I was just feeling weird thats all!

@mouna
Most of my posts tend to be rants, so I had tagged it also as "rant" without giving much thought.

@krupa
I had not read Osho. May be its just Bergman movies, will stop them for a while. Saw the Bourne movies this week and I am alive n kicking!

@december stud
Nice quote. Oh yes, I can read Kannada very well, though my firefox makes it a tad difficult by not rendering Kannada characters properly. :)

The Walk

I always loved taking leisurely walks here. In spite of being a busy street, the sidewalk is wide and well maintained. The street is lined with big, old trees that takes care of the scorching summer. Walking is always therapeutic, it helps me gather my thoughts and calms me down. It took me a while to realize that nowadays I had suddenly started walking briskly at one point in the street. When I wondered why I was doing that, I realized it was because of this old beggar woman. No, she was not annoying or shouting like the organized beggars mafia you encounter nowadays at traffic signals. I can handle them easily. This lady did not annoy the pedestrians or shout loudly to grab attention. This lady was anything but that. The first day I saw her, I took out a few coins out of my wallet, not even bothering to count, and gave it to her. The next time I was in a hurry and I just walked past her pretending to have not seen her. After that, its either one of these two reactions from me, ev...

Kill Bill 2 - Mock Review - Sandalwood ishtyle

The quality of reviews for Kannada films in newspapers is abysmal. They say the same things week after week - doing unfunny puns, saying politically correct things and making sure no new perspective is offered even by accident. Here is my mock review of "Kill Bill 2" using the same 'template'!
